Heavy is the Crown is a digital painting exploring power, identity, responsibility, and the weight of the crown.

Inspired by a photograph that stayed with me, I recreated the scene entirely by hand through digital painting, developing my own interpretation through deep shadows, rich gold tones, texture, and atmosphere.

The crown immediately represents royalty, strength, and achievement, while the obscured face tells another story. Behind what the world sees can exist pressure, expectation, vulnerability, and sacrifice. The piece asks us to consider what it really means to carry the crown and everything that comes with it.

Printed as a limited edition fine art giclée on Hahnemühle German Etching paper, Heavy is the Crown is created for collectors drawn to Black portraiture, symbolism, and artwork that carries a story beyond the image.
